European Parliament
Europe Union parliament is consisted of representatives of 28 member states. Those members are grouped into seven political groups chosen by political ideology and take 766 seats in the parliament. Members of the parliament work for 5 years and then they are reelected.
Political groups in EU parliament are: European People Party, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, Greens/European Free Alliance, European Conservatives and Reformists, European United Left, Europe of Freedom and Democracy.
The parliament has its own president which is elected every 2 and a half year. His/her job is to maintain the work of the parliament by the rules and regulations of the EU.
Parliament has its own delegations consisted of 20-40 members of the parliament which role is to maintain relationships and contacts with many countries and regions around the world.
Location of the parliament seat is in Strasbourg France. EUP has 24 official languages. The debates are done on 22 different languages while the documents are translated on 24.
The parliament as every government parliament has its own roles. One of those roles is to amend, accept or reject proposed EU legislature. Other is to allocate the EU annual budget and decide how much money is going to be spent for example on education, health, infrastructure, safety and etc.
Another role the EU parliament is to oversight the work of the European Commission. To manage EU policies and to conduct investigations and public hearings if some of those rights are broken.
The EP has 20 committees that are addressing specific issues such as education, environment and economic monetary affairs.
The Europe Union is growing in power and since itβs forming until now it connected 28 countries together. It started as a small union and it grew to be one of the biggest unions in Europe.
